2017 Air Jordan 4 Retro “Alternate 89″
Spring 2016 is going to be a big time for Air Jordan retros, as the brand recently gave us a preview of the Alternate Collection inspired by colorways from the early sample stages that just never saw the light of day. The Air Jordan 4 “Alternate” was one of those models, a pair that looks rather similar to the Military Blue 4s in terms of color blocking, only if you flipped the royal blue hue to a more Chicago-centric red. The back heel tab hides an Alternate ’89 callout to complete this colorway’s place in the Alternate Collection. Continue onward for a full look at the Air Jordan IV “Alternate” and let us know what you think of this ’89 inspiration by taking your thoughts to the comments section.
This Air Jordan 4 “Alternate 89″ Sample is a rare look at one of Jordan Brand’s iconic silhouette, the Air Jordan 4 that first debuted back in 1989. Dressed in a White and Red color scheme, this “Alternate 89″ Sample edition of the Air Jordan 4 features a White tumbled leather upper with Red accents throughout. One of the most interesting detail to the shoe is the inside heel tab that reads “Alternate 89″ which is a clear reference to the shoe’s first release back in 1989.
Inspired by Michael Jordan unveiling exclusive colored-up performance Air Jordans on the hardwood. As his recognizable shoes sparked a worldwide craze, Jordan Brand decided to design Player Exclusives those highly prized by athletes and collectors alike.
Giving a nod to Player Exclusives, the “Alternate ’89” edition of the classic Air Jordan 4 silhouette is dressed in the Chicago Bulls early “Home” colors – giving a look at what Michael Jordan could have worn during that era. Featuring a full smooth and premium tumbled leather White-based upper, with Red accents throughout, and wording of “Alternate ’89” behind the back pull tab.
